Introduction to Experience

As I was sharing this site to a friend of mine, they expressed an interest of helping expand and add to the KIP network. So, to help them get started I wrote a foreword post:

”I’m sure we’ve all had experiences where we either learn or realize something profound. You have learned something new through direct interaction. Just as you learn things by reading and understanding, you can also learn things from others’ experiences. This may differ from your usual consumption and processing of information, but learning new ways to learn will also help you to better yourself and learn faster. Taking in the details and concepts, along with the application of the knowledge extracted from the experience, requires you to think critically, which is a tier, or sometimes two, above the regular information processing of going through the day carrying out various tasks. Because this requires more of the brain than usual, not only are you learning a new skill set(learning by proxy) and new knowledge to be applied and recorded for future reference, you are also strengthening the brain, making it work. As it works harder and harder, like any muscle, it becomes faster and more efficient. Once you start to learn from others’ indirectly, it will be easier to learn from others directly, as well as from your own experiences. You may also be able to perceive more in depth, because you know and realize the process of converting experience into knowledge and skills from more than one perspective.”

P.S. – “There are somethings that can only be taught by experience, for everything else, there are books.” -Me, Myself, and I
